The origin of the name Abadiânia - Abadia - in honour of the patron saint, and - Nia - in honour of the founder Emericiana, the town first resident in 1914.
Abadiânia is a very modest rural village situated in the State of Goias, Brazil.
It has an area of 1050km2 and the population is estimated at 12500 inhabitants.
Vegetation is cerrado landscape with various species of tropical fruit trees growing in abundance.
The most important rivers in the region are Antas, Capivari and Corumbá.
The climate is tropical savanna with rainy season during the summer, October to April and dry season during May to September.
Temperatures are normally high reaching 35°C. and the altitude is on average of 900m above sea level.
